Choreography

My Choreographers Bio

I am an incredibly passionate choreographer with a knack for creating gorgeous visual patterns and moving stories. For any event, my focus will always be creating a heartfelt connection between the performers and audience.

I discovered my love of choreography in my first year of high school. All of the dance students were welcome to audition their original works for our end of year showcase, and I not only won a place in the show, but was granted a choreography award for my first ever solo choreography. I went on to receive more choreography awards throughout my years in the program, and in my final year, I reprised my grade 9 solo with a full company of almost 50 dancers.

I continued to explore choreography through my teaching years at various dance studios, creating beautiful group choreographies for our end of year performances, Christmas showcases, parade participations and competitive seasons. This sometimes involved managing shows of up to 100 dancers.

My most valuable experience was when I served as the Co-Creative Director of Stardust Academy in Amman, Jordan. I designed the season’s programming, led the entire dance program, as well as co-wrote, directed, and choreographed the end of year productions for three years. My final year with the program abruptly ended in March 2020 after a sold out opening of an original production which featured some of the best choreography the program had ever seen. My heart is still broken that our production of The Lion King never saw the stage, but I hope to have the opportunity to choreograph it again in the future.

Recently, I had the honour of working with Robert Binet of The National Ballet as a contributing choreographer for the Walk with Amal performance with the Luminato Festival.

Testimonials

Erin is an energetic and creative leader who quickly gained a strong rapport with students and staff at this year’s summer musical theatre camp as our director and choreographer. She arrived with a strong vision for our production, but showed flexibility to make changes when necessary. Erin was a pleasure to work with, always making sure everyone felt a part of the team.

Erin’s work at the Stabback Music Studio has left a lasting positive impact on our students, and in the staff a desire to work together again.

Teacher, Singer, Composer & Performer
We have had the pleasure of having Erin teach workshops, camp intensives and choreography at our studio for over five years.  Erin always comes on time, prepared and with a lesson plan.  Her enthusiasm, knowledge and love for dance is evident to all the dancers. Erin makes sure to connect with all of her students and is able to break down the choreography/skill/exercises even further if they are having trouble. She is welcoming and reassures her dancers that in her class it's a safe place for them to express themselves and therefore develop and become better dancers and performers.

Erin is professional, trustworthy and responsible and is always welcome at our studio.

Director
Erin is a phenomenal artist and an absolute joy to work with. Collaborating with her has been a dream come true for both our artistic staff and our students. Thanks to her incredible innovations and endless creativity, our annual summer arts camp has been a major success. Despite a modest budget, Erin puts together a magical set every year, filled with beautiful props and costuming.

With our Advanced Dance classes, Erin provides great care and support as she challenges our students to move outside their comfort zones and take on challenging choreography. Our students have thrived in these classes and in creative spheres outside of the program thanks to Erin's guidance and artistic sensibilities. We love having Erin with us and she has made a lasting positive impact on our students and artistic team!
